Like Temple Bar itself The Shack Restaurant offers a modern twist on something that is quintessentially Irish. The building was once a butcher's shop but was refurbished in 1990 and a restaurant, originally called the Chicken Shack, opened on the premises four years later. It was one of the first restaurants to open in the Temple Bar area.
In 1996 it was taken over by David Ellis who rebranded it The Shack Restaurant. He focused on maintaining its traditional roots, offering modern Irish cuisine cooked by Irish chefs.
Today The Shack, which sits right in the heart of Temple Bar, attracts tourists from around the globe and appeals to anyone from 18 to 80. Head chef, Pat Murray, has worked at the restaurant for 15 years and is well versed at producing hearty, wholesome Irish cuisine with modern flare and expertise. Many of his dishes draw their origins from Irish history and this authenticity is evident throughout the restaurant.
Staying true to its Irish roots The Shack offers a warm welcome, with a roaring open fire and top quality Irish music. It attracts a lively crowd but its informal nature means you can relax and focus on enjoying yourself.
